You would think you would hear more about the unnatural emissions left in the sky by passing air craft’s. When officials such as the EPA are confronted on the topic they state they are unaware of these trails being a threat to us, or that they are normal contrails (condensation Trails) and there’s no need for alarm. But normal contrails dissipate in the sky soon after they are emitted, the contrails diluting our skies now do not disappear. They hang in the sky till the wind blows them out of view, or expand and overtake our skies to a grayish tint. Things were not always like this. Reports of these started around the mid 90’s. There is much talk of this on the internet, but not nearly as much on television. It is fact that these lingering trails are not the typical contrail. Some scientists say that there are tiny metallic salts in these trails. If so, what is the reason for this? Global warming? Shouldn’t they let the American people know their plan to reflect solar radiation? I could live with the fact the skies are covered in white trails if for some reason it’s protecting my health. Reasoning’s for these “chemtrails” can go anywhere from a very pessimistic view to a very positive outlook. Could our own government be testing some sort of biochemical to manipulate our immune systems or possibly some sort of population control? Or is it simply a chemical put in our atmosphere to block out some of the solar radiation? There are many different opinions on why they are clouding our skies with fuel emissions. Have they found a way to emit clouds rather than condensation gases? I think we would have heard something about that. Whether they are there to kill us, save us, or just disregard our heath, I think people need to know what these lingering trails left in our skies are doing to the atmosphere.

Al Gore our 45th vice president and “environmental activist” starred in the 2006 documentary, “An Inconvenient Truth” dealing with man-made global warming and the destruction it will cause. He won an Academy Award for the film, a Grammy Award for the book, and Mr. Gore and the IPCC were jointly awarded a Nobel Peace Prize. His documentary was distributed by the government to thousands of schools world-wide.
In December of 2008, 30,000 scientists, including the owner of the Weather Channel, announced that they are suing Al Gore for fraud. More and more scientists are coming out against the accusations of Mr. Gore and the IPCC saying they are using faulty science and one sided theory’s. Some parents said the video is ‘propaganda’ and ‘brainwashing their children’ and they want the video to be removed from the schools. Kent school Governor, Stewart Dimmock claimed “the film was unfit for schools as it was politically partisan, containing serious scientific inaccuracies and sentimental mush”. Mr. Dimmock is working towards a court ordered to ban the movie from over 3,500 schools.

Earlier in July the LA Times stated Al Gore is comparing the fight against global warming to the Nazi threat in WWII. = http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/07/al-gore-likens-global-warming-to-nazi-threat.html

What is Al Gore, an environmental activist trying to scare the change into people? How well is global warming paying his bills? If you have read and watched the links, you may be asking yourself, who does this guy think he is? Al Gore has a minimum speaking fee of $200,000, and yet he still denies meeting to discuss his cause. He will very rarely answer questions about the alarming proposals made in the documentary. An environmental journalist working on the film “Not Just Evil, Wrong”, went to a very rare Q and A meeting for Mr. Gore. When confronting Mr. Gore with the question of the nine huge scientific errors in his film, Gore got nervous and the journalist’s microphone was quickly silenced.

What are the intentions of Mr. Gore? If his scientific asertations are so easily proved wrong, what is he really fighting for? It’s hard to believe that he overlooked the facts, and drew such an apocalyptic conclusion.

Throughout my blogs, I have explained that global warming is causing a large effect on our planet, and renewable energy can help, if not prevent, the catastrophes posed by scientist. But I got to thinking and plotting for my next entry, and I came across some interesting information. Of course we know there are still skeptics of the global warming theories, some say its true, and others deny any of the science portrayed in the media. But who is right? Both sides have very stern, factual theories and the evidence they illustrate are very persuading. The media’s best interest has never been to inform the public of the truth, but only to read the overview and fill in the blanks with topics of interest. So who do we trust?
I watched two movies last night, one called, “Global Warming or Global Governance?”, and the other, “The Great Global Warming Swindle”, and I have to say the information, scientific facts, and theories in these movies have really changed my perspective on the topic. I don’t know if I believe global warming is a legitimate fact, or if it is a hoax anymore. I have been stating how terrible global warming is, but if the information in the videos I watched are legitimate facts, then I have been nothing more than a tool for their plot against people. What if the conspiracy theories are conspiracies themselves? If both sides say their right, then who is wrong? I’ve chosen to go with neither side, and research the facts for myself. I will continue bringing forth information on renewable resources and their benefit, but my overall opinion on global warming may differ in time, and research. I do believe natural substitutes of energy will benefit the planet and the people, but to what extent?
If you share an interest on global warming or conspiracy theories, I highly recommend the movies, “Global Warming or Global Governance?” and “The Great Global Warming Swindle”.
I cannot say whether I believe all of it, but it is a very interesting point of view.

Wind energy is also a type of solar energy. One reason why wind flows is the uneven heating of the earths atmosphere by the sun. The earths rotation also plays a part in wind-flow. When the wind is harvested by a wind turbine and can be used for electricity. I know if your from California, you have probably noticed the large windmills beside the highway. They are located in three primary regions, east of San Francisco at the Altamont Pass, south-east of Bakersfield in Tehachapi, and east of Los Angeles in San Gorgonio. In 1995, these areas produced 30 percent of the entire world’s wind-generated electricity. In recent years, the price of wind energy has greatly decreased from being 7.5 cents per kilowatt an hour in 1993, to 3.5 cents per kilowatt an hour in 2008.
Not too long ago the Obama Administration had announced grants for the economic recovery package of $550 million total, with $464 million going to five wind projects. The main goal in doing so, is to double the renewable energy production over the next three years, and by 2025, 25% of Americas energy will be produced by renewable resources. Not only is wind energy good for the earth, it is creating more jobs worldwide. In 2008, the wind industry created 35,000 jobs, boosting the number of people employed in wind power to 85,000. The Obama Administration is also trying to get one-million hybrid cars (150 miles per gallon of gas) on the road by 2015, to help American’s oil dependency. Between 2005 and 2008 the wind industry expanded from $3 billion to $17 billion. Due to economic fall-backs it is expected to fall by $4 billion this year back to $13 billion. Will wind energy save the day, or be pushed aside? Only time will tell.

In 1996 the U.S. car company’s began to introduce electric powered, zero emission vehicles. The most popular was the EV1, built by General Motors under their Saturn branch. The concept for the EV1 was to reduce the air pollution levels in America, by making a percentage of vehicles on the road to be zero emission. Year by year they would produce more electric vehicles to gradually reduce the smog levels. Smog can create many health problems including asthma, cancer, and irregular lung development in children, on top of that California has the worst air quality in the nation. In 1990 we had 41 stage 1 smog alerts. For every gallon of gas we use, we put 19 pounds or carbon dioxide in the air. The EV1 was leased to a variety of people, from state senators to regular people trying to help the environment. It started with 70-80 miles per charge and later, with further development, went 100-120 miles per charge, while the average driver travels about 29 miles per day. Leasing the vehicle was only 250-500 dollars a month, and repair was oil free and had no internal combustion system, so there was virtually no mess. Not to mention they went fast enough to get a speeding ticket. So why don’t we see more electric cars? You would think human health would be the biggest priority right? Well the car no longer exists.

In early 2003 GM and other car company’s leasing electric vehicles began to impound all EV’s on the road. The reason stated was the insurance company would not re-finance the vehicles, so they were to be turned in immediately or face the legal consequences. All of the EV’s were then sent to a crushing facility. It started when GM sold the patten on the electric battery to Texaco. The oil industry would constantly discourage the vehicles by funding consumer organizations and editorials in national publications to slander the electric battery. But why?

There is still roughly about 1 trillion barrels of oil left in the earths crust, and for a hundred dollars a barrel, that leaves one-hundred-trillion dollars still left for profit. California alone uses about two-hundred-eighty-million gallons a week. The oil imports in 1977 was 8.8 million barrels per day, in 2005 it rose up to 13.5 million barrels per day. The combined profits of Exxon-Mobil, Chevron-Texaco, and Conoco-Phillips in 2003 was 33 billion dollars. In 2004, 47 billion dollars, and in 2005, 64 billion dollars. GM had made more of a commitment to the Hummer H2. In 1999 GM bought Hummer from AM General. In 2002 the maximum federal tax CREDIT for an electric vehicle was $4,000. In 2003 the maximum federal tax DEDUCTION for vehicles 6,000 pounds or over was $100,000. One month later GM closes it’s EV1 assembly line in Lansing, Michigan.

We’re using the military to ensure the flow of oil, and tax dollars to support the car companies. If that sounds like a false pretense, look back to the Bush/ Cheney administration. Dick Cheney was a former CEO at Halliburton. Condoleezza Rice the secretary of state, was a former member of the Chevron board of directors. Andrew H. Card, Jr. the chief of staff (2000-2006) was a former vice president of General Motors and the president and CEO of the American Automobile Manufacturers Association. Not to mention good ol’ George was an oil tycoon. The middle east has 2/3rds of the worlds proven oil reservers. During the month of the September 11th tragedy, the government failed to announce that they we’re importing 1.2 million barrels of oil per day just from Iraq, the most since 1990.

Hybrid cars are the only electric type vehicle on the roads today that is advertised by major corporations. They still depend on gas, but use an electric motor to get double the gas mileage. The real question is, is the oil we use worth global warming, unreasonable gas prices, or loved ones dying over a war on “terror”? Especially if we already have the technologies to solve our “oil addiction”. We are destroying our earth, our wallets, and ourselves, forced by the “United Corporations of America” and there un-dying lust for world empowerment. The last EV1′s were taken to the crushing plant March 15, 2005. Will we ever have a zero emission electric vehicle in the future? I don’t know, but i bet the oil company’s do.

In our decade, we have first handedly experienced the effects of global warming. The average temperatures has climbed 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit around the world since 1880. The rate of global warming has increasingly gone up in the last two decades, being the hottest in 400 years and possibly for several millennia. The most drastic change in the enviroment is in the arctic, with the climate temperature rising at twice the global average. Ice is slowly melting and the region may have it’s first compleatly ice free summer by 2040. This rapid change is already threatening indigenous species such as the polar bear. But its not just the northern hemisphere that is suffering. Recent heat waves, wildfires, and strong tropical storms are also reprecutions we face here in California.

Are humans to blame? A report, based on the work of some 2,500 scientists in more than 130 countries, concluded that humans have caused all or most of the current planetary warming. Industrialzation, deforestation, and pollution is producing far more carbon dioxide faster that plants and oceans can obsorb. Of course the earths temperature has gone up and down thru-out its existence, but todays changes have taken place within the last hundred years or so. At the rate mankind is going, sea level could rise 7 to 23 inches by the end of the century. Rises of just 4 inches could flood many South Seas islands and swamp large parts of Southeast Asia. In America, Louisiana and Florida are also some places at high risk for future flooding. More than a million species would become extinct due to disappearing habitats and changing ecosystems.

Global warming IS a problem, and will continue to be one. We may not be able to change it all in a day, but we can all do what we can to help. From re-using plastic bottles or carpooling to using more efficiant techniques to power our homes and vehicles. We cannot sit by and wait for the governments of the world to solve this increasing problem. The world has been around for billions of years and is awaiting billions more, but is humanity? This is our world and our responsiblity and the time for action is now. If not for us, then for the future generations of mankind.

Now days the term “going green” is used more frequently than ever. I know everyone has noticed the little Energy Star sticker on modern electronic devices. Cutting down on energy wattage is just the begining of what the future holds. Why not transform the basic idea of energy with no risk of depleating our sources to the max, or harming the soil in which we live? We all know the circle of life would never work without the sun. We need sun to grow grass, cows to eat grass, and cows to eat, right? Well why not use what we have to the fullest advantage?

Spain is one of the leading places of the world using solar thermal power. Solar thermal power uses solar pannels that track the sun. The pannels radiate the power into a large tower in the center of the solar plant called a central reciver creating the power of 600 suns. The power is used to vaporize water into steam powering a turbine. They are the first to use a central reciver in a solar plant and are the fourth in the world to use solar energy. Spain is producing about 120 mega watts (mega watt =1,000,000 watts) per day. One mega watt is roughly enough to accomodate 1000 residencial homes (varying upon area and watt usage). There are about 114,317,707 energy consumers in America per month, using about 187 killowatts ( killowatt = 1,000 watts). You do the math

The only draw back is the cost of solar energy plant construction and supplies. The only question you can ask yourself is would you pay the extra thousand on a solar car, if you never had to buy gas again?

Hello, my name is Charlie. I am from Hesperia, California and I’m currently going to Victor Valley College. For my english class I am writing a blog of my choice, and the topic I chose is the benifit of renewable energy versus fossile fuels. With fuel prices flucuating and the cost of living continuously going up, people are looking for more efficient and cost effective ways to do things, without a drastic change to their everyday lives.

Some topics I will blog about will be the economic benifits of renewable resources, technilogical advances towards natural efficient energy, places already using renewable energy, and the advantage natural energy has over some of the other types of energy sources we use today.
